A family affair
Wellness brand Nature’s Truth is backed by three generations of product innovators
by WILL FIFIELD
The active ingredients of Costco wellness products supplier Nature’s Truth are industry expertise and a commitment to manufacturing top-quality products.
Launched in 2011 by three generations of family entrepreneurs—Michael Rudolph (current company president), Scott Rudolph (Michael’s father) and Arthur Rudolph (Michael’s grandfather)—the company quickly became an industry-leading brand.
A legacy of entrepreneurs
Arthur Rudolph built his first vitamin and supplement company, Nature’s Bounty, from scratch in the early 1970s, when his son, Scott, was 14. “I followed my father’s work, carefully watching his process and learning the ins and outs of the industry,” says Scott, who eventually teamed up with his father and spent the next few decades making the family business a globally successful company.
In 2010, the Rudolphs sold Nature’s Bounty, and launched a new company—Piping Rock Health Products, parent company of Nature’s Truth—this time with Michael in the family mix.
“Creating vitamins and wellness solutions is in my family’s blood,” says Michael, adding, as the father of two young sons, “our passion for wellness is a family affair, and I want to continue the legacy.”
Nature’s Truth initially offered aromatherapy products, then expanded into vitamins, supplements and other wellness products. Michael says the family’s entrepreneurial passion led them to continue to expand in many areas of the wellness industry. Today, the company sells thousands of products. “It would be very hard to find another company in the United States that introduces as many new products a year as we do,” says Michael.
Committed to quality
Each time Nature’s Truth launches a new product, there are hundreds of checks along the way. Ingredient samples are tested to ensure they meet company standards, which includes their pledge to keep items GMO-free. “We do the vast majority of testing in-house,” says Michael, “and we continue to invest in state-of-the-art machinery, high-tech labs and facility expansion to truly own and oversee the quality process from start to finish.
“We want Costco members to know that when they purchase a Nature’s Truth supplement, they are investing in themselves.”
