5 Ways to Sneak More Fitness into Your Day
Going to the gym might be a stretch, but with a little creativity and commitment everyone can find time for exercise.
Start the new year right, even if it means exercising in small stints, with some tips from Costco.

1. Step it up
Adults should take about 7,000 to 8,000 steps a day to reach the optimal goal of 150 minutes of moderate activity per week. Keep tabs with a Fitbit and create some healthy competition with friends and family.

2. Watch shows, shed pounds
TV shows and movies are often part of winter nights, but the couch won't help burn calories. Point an indoor bike toward the flat screen. Or, bring your tablet to the gym and pedal your way through the plotlines.

3. Roll the office chair away
Ideally, adults should stand for two hours each workday. Make it possible with an adjustable standing desk. When you need to sit, spend some time on an exercise ball.

4. Schedule it in
From work meetings to commitments with the kids, it's no wonder exercise gets elbowed out. Schedule non-negotiable appointments with yourself and commit to a 30-day challenge.

5. Take the plunge
When you're ready, dive into a gym membership. If you're still not 100 percent sure, try a short-term membership. Many gyms offer classes. Find one that offers what you enjoy and create a new habit.
