I read [“A different path,” February 2022] and was pleased to see you included European river cruises. My wife and I have taken two of them so far. Our first went from Basel, Switzerland, to Amsterdam. On our second we spent three days in Prague, Czech Republic, before we went by bus to Budapest, Hungary, to board the boat. This cruise was a Christmas cruise.
We have another trip planned for September 2023 for Romania to Budapest. In December 2023, we are going on another Christmas cruise from Amsterdam to Zurich, Switzerland.
I would recommend to anyone who has never thought of taking a European river cruise to check them out. They are a lot of fun and you see and visit a lot of interesting places, and you make daily stops for excursions. I would also highly recommend taking a Christmas market tour. It is a wonderful time of year to be in Europe.

Doughnut-free
I read the Editor’s Note on “Doughnuts and dilemmas” [January 2022] and realized that I had a success story to tell on how I conquered the doughnut addiction.
Every morning, I stopped and bought three-for-99-cents chocolate dunkers without fail.
I finally realized I had a problem and made a New Year’s pledge to stop.
I came up with the idea to not just give up doughnuts and hope for the best, but to become “certified doughnut-free.” I succeeded beyond my wildest dreams. I’ve remained “certified doughnut-free” for [more than] 22 years.

Cooking with pistachios
Thank you for publishing the Pistachio-Crusted Baked Salmon recipe [“Nuts for pistachios,” February 2022]. It was easy and quick to make. My husband said it was the best salmon he has ever had. It was a hit! Thank you!

Exceptional issue
I always enjoy reading the Costco Connection, but all the articles in your January 2022 issue were exceptional: “A global approach” [Costco’s support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals]; “Breaking bread together” [the importance of family meals]; “Family fun time” [appropriate children’s play at different developmental levels]; “Family health” [keeping our families in good physical and mental health]; and “Elder care” [caring for our seniors]. I’m keeping copies for myself and also sending copies to friends who don’t get your magazine. Thank you!
