5 Ways to Use Your Costco Boxes

You've stocked up on household essentials – awesome! But what's next for those empty Costco boxes you used to carry items home? Before you toss them, prepare to cut, paint and repurpose with these tips.

1. Have fun with frames

Measure and cut the cardboard to craft a frame for photos and art. Paint the frame with fun designs or wrap it in funky fabric for extra flair.

2. Let the kids create costumes

Cardboard boxes can be used to make more DIY costumes than your kids can even imagine – from robots to their favorite cartoon characters.

Pro-Tip: Spread flattened cardboard on the floor to make life-size board games, tic-tac-toe or hopscotch. Or, how about the ever-popular cardboard car, house, kitchen or store?

3. DIY coasters

Protect your tables in a pinch using cardboard squares. Bonus: If the kids decorate their own coasters, they're more likely to use them.

Pro-Tip: Cut the cardboard into fun shapes to create place mats that your kids can draw (and spill!) on during mealtime.

4. Weed them out

Cardboard is a natural solution for weeds. Lay pieces flat on weed-prone areas, wetting the cardboard to shape and secure them. Add soil or mulch to conceal.

Pro-Tip: Because you need more paper, leaves and sticks than food scraps for composting, cardboard can be a DIY fertilizer's best friend.

5. A place for your pup

Puppy training? Help protect your floors by placing a piece of cardboard under newspapers.

Pro-Tip: Got cats? Layer strips of cardboard to make scratch pads for eager claws
