Measure First for Appliances

How to Measure for Your New Appliance. Appliance Installation Guide.

You found the appliance that fits your lifestyle—now make sure it fits in your kitchen. Certain types of appliances may be larger than others, so use this guide to ensure your purchase can be successfully delivered and installed.

Walk the Path. 1. Any gates or arbors on the path to the door should be at least the width of the appliance plus 1 inch on either side. On some appliances, the removal of door(s) may be necessary.
Make Sure to Measure.

Measure each door from jamb to jamb.

Plan to remove the door(s).

Measure the width of the opening at the countertop, under the upper cabinets and at the base if there is a molding.

Measure clearance for Kitchen Islands and other fixed cabinetry/walls. Room is needed for the appliance doors to be able to fully swing open.

Fit the Space.

Every appliance has different dimensions. Please reference Costco.com for your models’ exact dimensions. Be sure to check ALL dimensions, including depth, to ensure a proper fit.

Room to Breathe.

Your refrigerator needs a little room to breathe to make sure there is no over-heating within its designated space. The majority of models will need at least the following space measurements:

1/8 in. sides. 1 in. top. 2 in. back.
